We like to build stuff, we love to spend time with our family and friends. We like to go fast, get dirty, break stuff, fix it, and improve it.
We like to create unique designs, explore new solutions, and make improvements to everyday tools that improve our lives. We appreciate unique solutions to common problems. We love to do it ourselves. We make rather than buy.
Why GrabFab?
In this community of craftsmen and do-it-yourselfers there lacked a robust repository of quality designs that are ready for making without the burden of tremendous design efforts. Quality design or reference data is often the barrier to entry for our projects. Without this data we have three options- long design times, retail products that are a poor fit, and failure to even start. GrabFab is our solution to not only this problem, but also giving value to legacy work we’ve already completed.
As creators, many of us labor over unique designs only to build them once or twice. By sharing your designs on grabfab.com your completed work can create an income stream to fund NEW designs and products. As builders, our time is valuable and we’re not always trying to recreate the wheel. Why not buy a design and spend your time working on problems that are worthy of your time? GrabFab is that marketplace where hobbyists, entrepreneurs, and job shops can buy and sell high quality digital content that accelerates our productivity.
GrabFab is a vision to empower others like ourselves to get right down to building- With the confidence that it will turn out great, we can start enjoying it sooner without the trial and error, frustration, and the eventual exhaustion we all know too well. Don’t let wasted design time lead to abandoned projects, or compromise that stand in the way of successful completion of a project that you should be really proud of.
We live this life. Our project list is unending, just like yours. We knew, personally, if there was a resource that relieved the design burden and still yielded a design we loved, we would gladly take the leg up to successfully move forward with a project.
This is the genesis of GrabFab. A resource for fabricators that gets high quality designs into your workspace as quickly as possible. Other resources serving this community aren’t built for this; they are a square peg in a round hole. Selling our own designs elsewhere magnified this disparity- we realized we were far from alone. There are brilliant designers that do not wish to mass produce, but would like to share and profit from their ideas and designs. There are overburdened craftsmen who don’t have the resources available to properly design what they wish to create. GrabFab’s mission is to connect those with designs to those who need them.
